Quarry Loop
Explore a landscape hidden for more than a century
Experience Hornsby Park from a whole new perspective on the Quarry Loop, a challenging 2km walking and cycling circuit that reveals one of the region’s most extraordinary landscapes.
Discover nature, history and breathtaking views.
Beginning at the Crusher Plant Precinct, the Quarry Loop winds around the former quarry through towering rock faces, majestic Blue Gums and surrounding bushland, offering some of Hornsby Park’s most spectacular views across the quarry void, lake and volcanic diatreme.
Following sections of the original haulage roads once used to transport quarry materials to the Crusher Plant, the route provides a unique opportunity to experience the scale and history of this remarkable site. The loop also connects with the Great North Walk and surrounding bushwalking trails, providing access to the Western Lookout and the historic Higgins Cemetery.
Featuring steep inclines, varied surfaces and shared-use sections, the Quarry Loop is suited to visitors seeking a more challenging walking or cycling experience while discovering the rich natural and cultural heritage of Hornsby Park.
