As the sun sets\, the landscape transforms—revealing a mysterious and vibrant world that only comes alive after dark. \nFollow the new heritage steps and immerse yourself in Hornsby’s beautiful bushland bathed in twilight. Along the way\, our guide will introduce you to the fascinating wildlife that becomes active when most of us are winding down for the day. \nSpecial Feature: International Bat Appreciation Day \nDid you know 17 April is International Bat Appreciation Day? To celebrate\, our guide will bring along a bat detector so we can tune in to the hidden world of local microbats. You’ll learn which species call Hornsby Park home and hear their ultrasonic calls translated into sounds we can actually detect. \nCome along to discover\, explore\, and experience the bush in a whole new light—after dark! \nWalk grade: 2.5 (easy to slightly challenging).\nSuitability: All ages.\nSupervision: Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.\nPlease note: Younger children unused to bushwalking might find it tough. Not suitable for those with impaired mobility\, wheelchairs\, walkers\, or prams.

The children lead their own safari as they search for insects and get up close with the thousands of bugs that call our bushland home. This is an active\, exciting outdoor experience that shows children they don’t have to travel far to connect with nature—fascinating wildlife is right on their doorstep. Perfect for curious minds\, budding scientists\, and kids who love exploring! \nWalk grade: 2.5 (easy to moderate). There are many steps along the heritage step trail\, this walk is not suitable for prams.\nSuitability:Targeted for primary age children 5 – 12 years of age.\nSupervision:Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.\nPlease note:This activity includes applying scientific methods of observation to find insects in nature. Registrations are essential. Please ensure to register a ticket for each child and caregiver.
